The Wolfe Center staff are dedicated to providing a safe and supportive environment for the adolescents and families that it serves.
The Wolfe Center, a county based drug and alcohol abuse out-patient treatment program for teens and their families opened in March 2004. It was founded by the Loyd Wolfe Juvenile Justice Network, a local non profit agency, whose mission is to provide for youth in the Criminal Justice System and Foster Care. Loyd Wolfe was a retired California Youth Authority Parole Officer who founded the Juvenile Justice Network as his dream to provide services early on to troubled youth before they became more entrenched in juvenile delinquent behavior. The Wolfe Center was recently selected by the Communities First Study Team to be featured in its final report.
The program also provides services in St. Helena, American Canyon and Calistoga and is operated under the Board of Directors of the Juvenille Justice Network
The Wolfe Center is the first-ever Napa County program devoted exclusively to treat teens with substance abuse problems, according to Sheila Daugherty, Juvenile Justice Network Board member. Daugherty who is also the chief fund developer and one of the founders of the program added that the mission of the Wolfe Center is to provide prevention, treatment, learning support and youth development services that reduce the impact of alcohol and other drug abuse on our youth, families, schools, and communities.
As attested by Thomas Powers, previous Executive Director, “We are very proud of our collaborations with the Napa County Office of Education, Napa Unified School District, Napa Probation Department, Napa County Health and Human Services, and the Courts that have provided us with opportunities and funding to serve our Napa youth.”
“Currently, our counselors provide prevention education to students in our middle schools and high schools, as well as assessments and referrals for services in our School Based Prevention Program through the support of the Napa’s Health and Human Services Agency and Napa Unified School District.”
Through the support of the Napa County Office of Education we have very own Wolfe High School. Additionally, we are also providing educational and treatment program services to students who are on Probation and in Juvenile Hall, thanks to the excellent support of the Napa Probation Department.
The Wolfe Center has 16 staff members and an annual budget of approximately $1 million.

The Wolfe Center is grateful for a generous grant from the Napa Valley Vintners through Auction Napa Valley. |
